Countdown to Magical Makeup
A timeline to get your cosmetics set for the big day
When it comes to makeup, going "natural" doesn't necessarily mean
going naked, as you can see from the following prenuptial schedule
recommended us here at UWD.
5 Months Before
Start looking for a makeup artist if you plan to use one on your wedding
day. Do a couple of trial runs until you meet the perfect match. If
you'll be doing your makeup yourself, consult with a pro for some
brush-up lessons and to get advice on crafting your wedding day look.
3 Months Before
If you want to have your eyebrows shaped-whether through waxing or
tweezing-start now, then have them done on a regular basis once a
month until the big day arrives.
If you're using a makeup artist, block out about 90 minutes for
your cosmetics tryout. Wear a shirt that's the same color as your
dress, and have your hair the color it's going to be on your wedding
day. It's also time to book the artist for the wedding, if you haven't
already.
1 Month Before
Keep practicing your makeup skills.
Don't forget to do eyebrows or have them done.
1 Week Before—and not a day later!
Get eyebrows shaped for the last time, and any other waxing done.
Confirm makeup artist for the wedding.
If you're doing your own hair and makeup, do a complete run through.
On the Big Day
Since your wedding will likely involve lots of crying (with joy, of
course) and smooching, keep in mind these makeup smear-proofers from
Raffaele:
- Waterproof mascara is a must, or use pencil or powder instead
of liquid eyeliner which is likely to run.
- Follow up the no-tear with the no smear. Best word of mouth:
matte lipstick blotted well. If you want a bit of sheen, use a
sheer tinted gloss.
