Can We Allay Travel Costs of Solo Guests?

We’re concerned that attending our wedding will be very costly for friends traveling solo. Is there anything we can do?

Sure: Start by sending out an e-mail to all of your friends who are making the trek by themselves to see if anyone’s interested in pairing up with other singles to share costs. If they are, give them each other’s contact information (names, phone numbers and e-mail addresses). For friends coming from the same region you can suggest they share rides, gas charges and a rental-car expense if necessary.

If the bulk of your single friends are coming from different places and a travel buddy won’t work, ask them if they’re interested in bunking together in the same hotel room to save a little dough. For even cheaper room (and possibly board!), see if any friends and family who live near your wedding locale and have a spare bedroom are willing to play “B&B” hosts for these friends flying solo. If so, include their contact info as well in your e-mail.

Basically, all you need to do is put these cost-saving options out there. After that, it’s up to your pals to take the ball and run with it.
