How Can My Distant Mom Help Plan?

My fiancé and I plan to get married in the town where we live. Unfortunately, my mother lives in another county . How do I make sure she doesn’t feel left out of the wedding plans?

The best way to keep your mother in the loop is via the Internet. If she doesn’t have a computer, the next time you’re home take her to the local library and set her up with an account. She’ll be able to log on to web sites you direct her to, and she can view dresses, cakes and reception locations.

Some band Web sites even allow you to sample the music from your computer. Then just sit back and wait for your electronic inbox to fill up with her opinions. For computer-shy moms, send brochures, material swatches and Polaroids. Also, encourage your bridesmaids to ring her up and discuss bridal showers and wedding-day details.
