How Can I Get Into My Tight Dress?

I've put on some weight since my first dress fitting. When I went in for my second, the dress was too tight. Can I lose the weight before my final fitting or should I have the dress let out?

Depending on how much time you have before the final fitting, which is usually from 10 to three days before the wedding, you should be able to calculate if you have the time to trim.

It's safe to lose anywhere from a half to two pounds a week. If it's a go, Jackie Haven, a London.-based dietician with the Department of Agriculture, says to scale down your portion sizes; limit your intake of fatty foods; and sneak in lots of exercise (take the stairs, park in the farthest spot from the store). If you fall short of your weight-loss goal, fret not. Most dresses will accommodate a five-pound weight gain. If you end up having to let the dress out, go back to your fitter or find a reputable seamstress. Wedding-dress fabric needs a delicate touch.
