How Can I
Make My Shoes Comfortable?
Im worried that after dancing
all night in high heels, my feet will be in agony. What kind
of shoe can I wear to alleviate the pain from standing and
dancing all night, or should I try some sort of padding?
For fabulous-feeling feet, Look for a shoe with a one
to one-and-a-half-inch heel—the thicker the better,
since thinner, spiky heels can leave you off-balance,
says Glendale, Arizona podiatrist Kathleen Stone. Also,
go for a shoe with square toes and a flexible fabric, both
of which will give your feet more support.
Treat your feet well by buying the right size pantyhose (a
size too small will leave your toes constricted). Avoid ingrown
toenails by making sure your nails are cut short and straight
across. Dont rely on padding in your shoes as your cure-all,
says Dr. Stone. It may only add more pressure to your foot.
Your best bet? Try to sit down occasionally during the affair
to give your feet a break. Better yet, pack an alternate pair
of shoes (still pretty, but with a lower, more sensible heel)
to wear at the reception.
