How Do I Move My Dress?

I'm buying my wedding dress where I live, but I'm getting married hundreds of miles away. How do I get the dress to the wedding without wrinkling it en route?

Start by making sure it's packed well when you pick it up. The salon should stuff the bodice with tissue and cardboard to prevent deep creasing, then put the whole dress in a protective garment bag.

Road-tripping brides can then simply hang the dress (in the garment bag) from the clothes hook in the back seat, with the skirt laid carefully across the seat. If you're flying, the dress will be your carry-on.

As you get on-board, let a flight attendant know you've got a wedding dress. (Play it up—who can resist helping out a bride?) He or she should be able to find a safe spot—usually a first-class closet—to hang your very important luggage. Chances are, your dress will get off the flight fresher than you will.
