Should I Switch to Contacts for the Big Day?

I don’t want to wear glasses at my wedding. Will it take time to get used to contacts, or can I switch just for the day? Can I cry with them in?

Since contacts can take some getting used to, you’ll need to plan ahead. “If you have an astigmatism or some other complication, it can take several months to refine your prescription,” says Barry Weissman,of Spec Savers. See your opthamologist at least three months before the wedding, and wear your lenses as often as possible to get used to them.

When the reception’s over, pop them out and go back to the comfy Coke-bottles you’ve been wearing. As for crying, “things will be a bit blurry, but they’ll dry up,” says Weissman. Just don’t rub your eyes too much, or you’ll end up kissing the best man instead of the groom.
