How Can I Cut Guest Dates?

To keep our guest list small, we invited our single friends without dates. After we mailed the invitations, a few people called asking if they could bring dates. How should we handle this?

Your first impulse might be to tell them that it’s your wedding and they shouldn’t question your decisions on the guest list. However, this may create tension between you and your friends. You’re best off assuring them that there will be several other charming, interesting singles to mingle with at the wedding.

You can even say that weddings are the perfect place to meet new friends or make a love connection. If your single pals don’t buy this, reiterate how much it means to you to have them there. That should put their focus back on what’s most important.
