To Whom Must We Give Thank-You Gifts?

We already bought presents for our attendants.
Should we buy anyone else a thank-you gift?

Before you consider buying additional thank-you gifts, ask yourself
whom you need to thank. Along with those guys and gals you dressed
alike, who else helped you pull off your party? Did your parents
and in-laws play a big part in making the wedding-planning process
go smoother? Maybe someone housed out-of-town relatives or hosted
a post-wedding brunch? Did you ask a friend to hand out wedding
programs at the church, man the guest-book table or do a reading
during the ceremony? What about that close girlfriend who lent you
her ear and her opinions during your engagement? You probably owe
her a big thanks for keeping your sanity in check!
Also, don’t forget those guests who traveled a great distance
to be with you on your wedding day. They may be added to the list,
too.
Once you decide who gets special thanks, your budget needs to
be considered. If you can only afford to buy a few of these people
gifts, this is perfectly acceptable. There are other ways to show
your appreciation without blowing your budget. Honor these friends
and family in your wedding program, or arrange for your new hubby
to thank them in his speech. Finally, don’t forget about your
centerpieces. You’ve already paid for them, so why not give
them away to some of these special folks. Better yet, have your
DJ or bandleader stop the music so you can make a big to-do about
the presentation.
