Can a Buffet Be Elegant?

I love the idea of a buffet, but we still want elegance. How can we achieve that?

A buffet can be a wonderful experience for guests, because of the variety it offers—people don’t have to choose between the filet or the sea bass (they can sample both!). And a well-planned buffet can certainly be just as elegant as a formal sit-down dinner.

One of our best buffet ideas is setting up food in smaller stations. This means that guests can spread out, and move and mingle all across the room. I love to offer passed hors d’oeuvres, which add a layer of elegance to the whole affair.

As guests indulge in dishes at a pasta, chicken, or salad station, they can also sample smaller treats like shrimp or sliced steak as they’re passed around.
