Winter Wedding
Decor
In the snowy season, give your wedding a warm, cozy appeal.
The key to creating a romantic winter wedding is choosing
dcor that appeals to the senses. Rich amethyst, emerald green
or sapphire blue dresses, a cinnamon-scented candle flickering
light through a brass sconce and heavy velvet drapes are just
the touches that will knock the chill out of the coldest of
days.
"Begin with rich jewel tones, like emerald or burgundy, for
your accent pieces. Then, add a little sparkle with small
white (or tinted) lights around any trees and railings," UWD
senior bridal consultant Lynzie Hays suggests.
Next, enhance the warm glow of the room by using candles
wherever you can (altars, tables, aisles). For arrangements
and small touches, Hays recommends plenty of greenery and
fragrant flowers, such as amaryllis, red roses or white narcissus.
Finally, top it all off with a stylish fruit-bowl centerpiece.
"Cranberries, pears, apples, pomegranates and figs are nice
this time of year," Hays says.
Favors
"At the end of the evening," ModernBride.com bridal consultant
Sandie Steffes advises, "send your guests home with some warm
and toasty favors they can enjoy while kicking back in front
of the fire." She suggests going for sense-appeal with winners
like:
- Cedar packets or spicy sachets
- Spiced teas
- Cranberry chutney
- Potpourri
- Gingerbreads
- Hot cocoa mugs
- Snow globes
- Sleigh bells
- Snowflake cookies
