Destination Weddings in Kauai

Combining the scenic beauty of Waimea Canyon and the remote intimacy of Polihale Beach with an array of luxury resorts, and Hawaii's Kauai island is an ideal spot for a stunning destination wedding.

From hiking in lush tropical forests to kayaking along the beautiful Napali Coastline, you’ll find more adventures on Kauai than even the most lively couple can imagine. The scenic beauty of Waimea Canyon and the remote intimacy of Polihale Beach are just two of the many treats nature has to offer here. But this nearly untouched island isn’t all about roughing it. On the contrary, the luxury resorts here are experts when it comes to the art of romance—and that’s what makes it the perfect place to get married.

Sheraton Kauai

Located on beautiful Poipu beach, the Sheraton Kauai (Sheraton-kauai.com) is a luxury resort that tastefully blends spectacular ocean views, spacious lanais, comfortable guest rooms, and award-winning restaurants in a surprisingly intimate atmosphere. Because no building at the resort stands taller than four stories, it exudes a feeling of relaxed elegance seldom found in grander hotels. And the grounds are overflowing with romantic spots just perfect for exchanging vows. Call 808/742-4037 to talk to a wedding event planner.

If you’re sticking around for your honeymoon, ask about the Enchanting Moments Romance Package: it includes four nights’ accommodations, a bottle of champagne and fruit bowl in your room, a romantic dinner for two and a few other special perks. Every room at the Sheraton has a lanais, but it’s definitely worth the money to splurge on Deluxe Ocean Front Accommodations. The romantic effect of the sun setting over the sapphire blue water while you sip a glass of wine on your private veranda is incomparable.

Kauai Marriott Resort

Conveniently situated on Kalapaki Bay, just a few minutes from Lihue airport, the Kauai Marriott Resort (marriotthotels.com) is the definition of Hawaiian hospitality. While almost any resort on Kauai can boast gracious service, the staff members at the Marriott are so remarkably friendly, you’ll literally feel the stress of travel flee from your body the minute you arrive. The resort is home to five excellent restaurants, with cuisine ranging from hamburgers to sushi, the most luxurious swimming pool in Kauai, and comfortable guest rooms with showers that seem to be made for honeymooners. Plus, there are plenty of activities—including water sports, aerobics, and lei-making classes—to keep your wedding guests entertained while you enjoy a pre-wedding massage or a poolside daiquiri. Hint: While all of the rooms have balconies, some are too small to actually sit on. So be sure to ask for a room with a full lanais.

The gorgeous lobby, adorned with authentic Hawaiian art and lush tropical gardens, provides the perfect backdrop for an elegant wedding celebration. And the more casual couple can take advantage of the beach for an ocean-side celebration. The wedding ceremony package includes a garden or ocean setting, non-denominational minister, photography package, bouquet and boutonniere or leis for £565.00. Making it Legal

Getting a Hawaii marriage license is relatively easy. There’s no waiting period and no blood test—you just need£30 and a valid I.D. To obtain a license, contact the State Department of Health or ask a resort wedding planner to connect you with a licensing agent in Kauai.
