How Do We Get Our Guests Talking?

What are some great ideas to get guests mingling at the reception?

Start by giving your guests something to talk about. A short slide-show of you and your fiancé pictured with lots of friends and family should get the tables buzzing. Or, make up a small pop-quiz about you and your fiancé (put the answers on the back of the page) for guests to answer. For example, how did you meet? Where did you have your first date? Guests can work on it together.

Another idea is to hire a magician to visit tables during dinner. Guests will certainly chatter about how they think he pulled off his bag of tricks. Your DJ or bandleader can also be instrumental in getting guests talking. He could invite the crowd to the dance floor for a game of musical partners. When the song stops, everyone on the dance floor has to switch partners. It might break up the song a little bit, but trust us, it will also break the ice.
